Choosing an effective strapping solution for your business
Whether you’re bundling items together, securing a load, or joining one parcel to another, strapping can be used for many purposes. It offers added strength and can be used to secure anything, from smaller products to bulky loads.
But with all the different strapping types and sizes available, which is best suited to your operation? This article will give you the knowledge and tips needed to help select the right strapping for an efficient solution.
Manual vs machine strapping
There are two ways you can apply strapping: the first being manually using strapping tools, and the second, using a semi/ fully automatic strapping machine. Let’s explore these two options in a little more detail.
Manual strapping
To apply strapping manually, a tensioner, sealer and seals are required to complete the packing process, which can become relatively long-winded. To simplify and speed up the process, strapping combination tools are available, which combine the tensioner and sealer into a single tool.
Typically, manual strapping tools are seen in smaller production lines. This is because the cost of semi/ fully automated strapping machines simply can’t be justified when a small number of packages are being strapped.
Machine strapping
For operations that strap many packages day-to-day, a strapping machine should be considered. In fact, we highly recommend it. A manual strapping solution just won’t cut it. But should you opt for a semi or fully automatic strapping machine?
- Semi-automatic strapping – For an easy-to-use, quick method to strapping, a semi-automatic strapping machine is great. Small to medium sized packaging operations with a moderate need for strapping will benefit from this machine greatly.
- Fully automatic strapping – strap your packages at the press of a button, touch of a sensor or foot pedal. A fully automated strapping machine is perfect for larger, busy packaging operations (usually 50 or more packages a day) and can produce 27 strap cycles per minute. How’s that for efficiency?
